Detective Vince Peter's Gets His Man (Keys)

Last week while on their route, our much-appreciated trash collection crew found a set of keys on the road. On the key chain was a fire department insignia prompting the crew to drop the keys at your FGFD fire house. Our long-time records officer, Vince Peters, noticed that the key ring had fire department memorabilia and assumed it belonged to one of our members. After a week of no one claiming them, Vince, now promoted to detective, took to Nextdoor trying to find the owner. still no luck. The key ring had a strap that said, “Elburn & Countryside Fire District.” But Vince, a native Iowan, had no idea where this was. So, back to the internet to discover that Elburn is a suburb southwest of Chicago. Vince called the fire department in Elburn but the administrator was not familiar with the 70-member department and was of no help. Vince figured, we have a website, maybe Elburn does as well. Sure enough they do and Vice fired off an email to the department. Less than 24 hours later Chief Huneke responded that he believed one of his firefighter/paramedics had a mom that lived in Tennessee. Bingo, enter Mrs. Shiela Lange, mother of firefighter Travis of the Elburn Fire Department. Mrs. Lange came to our fire station and retrieved the keys and was very grateful since the keychain also contained a very expensive truck remote fob.

Another mystery solved by your FGFD detective staff. Thank you, Vince, for your tireless pursuit of Mrs. Lange. One more in a long list of ways your FGFD takes care of the residents of Fairfield Glade.
